Thompson in Southwest Edmonton

Chiropractic tableThe Thompson Technique, developed by Dr. J. Clay Thompson, has evolved into a system of analysis and a way of adjusting the full spine precisely and with the greatest comfort to the patient possible! This approach was so unique that Dr. Thompson was granted a patent in 1955. Since then, because of its precision and patient results, it is a technique used around the world.

The Thompson technique developed when chiropractors noticed that subluxations (misalignments) would produce the appearance of a short, or contracted leg. Using a protocol of comparing leg lengths while the patient turned their head, helped determine whether the subluxation was in the upper, middle or lower back, and the technique became a tried and true practice that we still use today!

Before an adjustment, Dr. Jenna, Dr. Dana, and Dr. Amanda, will do a leg lench check to observe whether your body might be presenting a leg length inequality in order to better understand which areas of the body may need correction. After assessing for inequalities, we can utilize the “drop” feature on our chiropractic tables to adjust specific points along the spine, hips, pelvis and/or extremities. Our patients at Thrive Chiropractic & Wellness Centre love having the ability to be adjusted on one of our highly specialized segmental drop tables!

Individual cushions or “drop pieces” located along our table surface support each area of your body while this thrust is delivered. Then, each drop piece gently gives way, reducing the amount of energy needed to move a specific spinal segment

If you have questions about the Thompson technique or would like to learn more about chiropractic care at Thrive Chiropractic & Wellness Centre we invite you to speak with our team.
